Yesterday in Marshfield

10 YEARS AGO: Darrell Beilke earned licensing credit at Wisconsin Liquid Waste Carriers Association. He joined more than 125 professional liquid waste carriers and industry suppliers from throughout Wisconsin and neighboring states at the annual summer conference.

Privates Chris P. Schar, son of Rick and Cindy Rennhack, Marshfield, and Jesse D. Meinke, son of Kevin and Louise Meinke, Spencer, have enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

25 YEARS AGO: The city of Neillsville has been awarded a $395,999 action grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction of 34 rental housing units. The announcement came from the office of Sen. Robert Kasten, R-Wis. Neillsville is one of seven communities to receive grants.

50 YEARS AGO: Marshfield Senior High School students Glenise Kastern, Barbara Bluemke, Charles Aslakson and Karen Chronquist have been selected as finalists in the competition for the American Field Service international scholarship, which will send a student to a foreign country next summer.

75 YEARS AGO: Mrs. Frank Trudeau and her son, Al, of South Cherry Street, will spend 10 days at the World's Fair in Chicago.

Building of a new receiving room, together with the installation of a new elevator, are improvements being made at Saint Joseph's Hospital to provide more efficient care of emergency cases.
