Emil P. Havlovitz, age 97, formerly of 5403 North Lake Road, Mishicot, died Tuesday night, Oct. 20, 2009, at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.
Emil was born on March 4, 1912, in the town of Franklin, son of the late Matt and Elizabeth (Chizek) Havlovitz. He married the former Helen Wanek on Oct. 21, 1936, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2008. He farmed in the town of Gibson for his entire life. He enjoyed farming and helping his neighbor farmers, hunting with his beagles and fishing in the area lakes. Emil loved to sit and tell grandpa stories to his grandchildren. As a young man, Emil was involved in the harvesting of ice off of Harpt's Lake. He was a member of St. Isadore the Farmer Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills.
Survivors include five children: Gerald (Betty) Havlovitz, Kewaunee; Nancy Lorenz, Kings Bridge; Robert (Betty) Havlovitz, Denmark; Patricia Valenta, Denmark; John "Jack" (Lois) Havlovitz, Mishicot; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; three brothers; eight sisters; and two sons-in-law: Wayne Lorenz and Donald Valenta.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at St. Isadore the Farmer Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills site. The Rev. Dennis Drury will celebrate the mass of Christian Burial with Deacon Bob Pribek as homilist. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Tisch Mills.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is serving the Havlovitz family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Theobald, the staff of Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center and Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County for all the compassionate care given to Emil. They would also like to thank Fr. Dan Felton, Fr. Dennis Drury, and Deacon Bob Pribek for their spiritual guidance.
