MEDFORD -- Joseph "Joe" R. Jari Jr., 73, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. Cremainal inurnment will take place in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.
Visitation will be at the church Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time of services.
Hemer Funeral Home of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joe was born May 22, 1936, in Medford, the son of Joseph M. and Augusta M. (Makovec) Jari. He was united in marriage to Lou Ann Ruesch in California in 1958 and they later divorced.
Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, where he was a mechanic while being stationed in Guam. After his military service, he worked for the city of Medford Utility Department for about 10 years. He then worked at 4's Glass (now Weathershield) in Medford, Supreme Veal Feed in Dorchester, Bauer's Trucking in Medford, Eggert's Service Station in Medford and Phillip's Plastic in Medford.
He is survived by two sons, Bernard Jari of Medford and Kevin Jari of Wausau; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is further survived by three brothers, James (Lois) Jari, Matt (Carole) Jari and Robert (Laverne) Jari, all of Medford; three sisters, Marie Jari and Josephine Ziegler, both of Medford, and Marge (Robert) Barker of Rockford, Ill.; and a half-sister, Barbara.
