Ann McCarthy

Ann McCarthy, 54, of Fox Lake, died peacefully while surrounded by her family, at her daughter's home on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009.

Ann was born on Aug. 12, 1955, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Don and Genevieve (Frank) McCarthy.

She graduated from Waupun High School in 1973 and became employed with the American National Bank in Beaver Dam from 1973 until 1979.

Ann was currently a loyal employee at Electronic Components and Services (ECS) in Fox Lake, working in the quality control department until ill health prevented her from working.

Ann was a person who devoted much of her time to her community, currently as a City of Fox Lake alderperson, a member of Concerned Area Residents for Quality Education and as a past EMT with the Fox Lake Fire Department for over five years and also as a past Girl Scout leader.

Ann cherished the times she spent with her family and friends and traveling with them to Ireland and Punta Cana, Mexico.

Ann was a faithful member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake, where she served on the church council and as an usher.

In her free time, Ann loved to make quilts for her nieces and nephew; and most of all she enjoyed the Thursday morning meetings for coffee and then Thursday evenings spent at Waterfest with friends.

Ann will be sadly missed and mourned by her daughter, Katie (Adam) Vande Slunt of rural Waupun; her mother, Gen McCarthy of Fox Lake; three grandchildren, Max, Sophie and Stella Vande Slunt of rural Waupun; two brothers, Todd (Emily) McCarthy of Beaver Dam and Tim (Carol) McCarthy of Fond du Lac; nephew and nieces, Eric, Erin (Luke) Sustman, Briana, Kelsey and Molly; one aunt; several cousins; many dear friends and co-workers; and her faithful dogs, Abby and Cody.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Don McCarthy, on June 15, 2005, aunts and uncles.
