Black Hawk landing at Marshfield High

By Ashley A. Smith

Hundreds of kids flocked to practice field behind Marshfield High School to check out the military Humvee and cannon on display, but it was the UH-60M Black Hawk that captured their attention.

“That’s an extraordinary piece of equipment,” said freshman Hannah Novicki, 14.

The students got a chance to see the Black Hawk land into the field Tuesday morning to celebrate the district’s Military Appreciation Day, flown by 1999 Marshfield graduate Army National Guard Capt. Lisa Hendershot.

“This is a great experience,” Hendershot said. “I missed my 10-year high school reunion, but to come back and for Military Appreciation day and help local recruitment is great.”
