Lucia 'Lucy' Hieronimus
Lucia "Lucy" Hieronimus, formerly of the town of Stettin, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in Palliative Care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1923, in the town of Rib Falls to the late Max and Emma (Behnke) Reiche. On May 22, 1942, Lucy married Gilbert Hieronimus in Marathon. They dairy farmed in the town of Stettin until retiring in 1983.
Lucy was accomplished in crocheting afghans and needlework. She enjoyed flower gardening, and feeding and watching the birds. After retiring, Lucy and Gilbert enjoyed traveling all over the United States as well as their trip to Germany. Lucy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin, where she was involved in the Ladies Aide and quilting.
She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Joyce (Tom) Rakow of Marathon, Lois (Ron) Zahrt of Wausau, and Sue (Dan) Thelen of Oregon, Wis.; six grandchildren, Linda (Cavin) Thiery of St. Michael, Minn., Jennifer (Tony) Podjaski of Marathon, Melissa (Kyle) Guyla of Sun Prairie, Laura (Scott) Schniffer of Eau Claire, Mike Zahrt of Wausau, and Greg (Rebecca Poole) Thelen of Green Bay; three great-grandchildren, Hayden and Donavan Guyla, and Allison Podjaski; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Wanda Reiche; and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by Gilbert on May 3, 2001; her daughter, Nancy; three brothers, Leonard, Martin and Eldren Reiche; three sisters, Dorothea (Walter) Kohlwey, Loretta (Harry) Haehlke and Verna (Melvin) Schoeneck; and two brothers-in-law, Walter (Gertrude) Hall and Ervin (Elsie) Hieronimus.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. today, Oct. 20, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. The Rev. Phil Bogen will officiate. Burial will be in Stettin Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services today at the church.
