Events The Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation and the Center for Enterprise Development invite Fond du Lac County businesses to kick off the "Impact!" economic gardening program at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Holiday Inn, 625 W. Rolling Meadows Drive. The program aims to bolster business growth through specialized tools and services. The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration awarded a $437,899 grant to fund and implement "Impact!" over the next three years. Lunch will be served. The Young Professionals of Fond du Lac will hold the Halloween Spooktacular at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at The Elks Club, 33 Sheboygan St. Participants are encouraged to dress in costumes for an evening of food, drinks and socializing. Business news In honor of National Art & Framing Month, Gallery & Frame Shop, 94 S. Main St., will donate a portion of all October sales to the Fond du Lac Children's Museum's Spooktacular Costume Party on Friday, Oct. 30.
The new GoRipon.com Web site is near completion of its first stage — obtaining all Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce members' keywords and descriptions. The second stage will expand information on members from the Green Lake, Berlin, Markesan and Montello chambers of commerce.
Stage three will collect data from businesses and organizations in Green Lake, Ripon, Princeton, Berlin, Markesan, Montello, Pickett, Rosendale, Rush Lake, Fairwater, Manchester, Kingston, Dalton, Eldorado and Neshkoro. Tourists, businesses and prospective residents may use it to explore opportunities in the Ripon-Green Lake area.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association awarded a $52,000 grant to the Fond du Lac Public Library to educate people near retirement about finances.

Phoenix Coaters, a business unit of Mayville Engineering Co., promoted Chris Voss to plant manager of its new Beaver Dam facility. Voss joined Mayville Engineering in 1993 and has served as paint supervisor at the Mayville location since 2005.
Awards National business magazine Inc. added Huberty & Associates, a certified public accounting firm, to its 5,000 list — an annual tally of America's fastest-growing private companies. Huberty & Associates, founded in 1981 by Wayne Huberty, has grown by 80.7 percent in the past three years. Revenue increased from $1.6 million in 2005 to $2.9 million in 2008, according to Inc. Huberty, with offices in Fond du Lac, Ripon, Plymouth and Markesan, is among 14 Northeast Wisconsin companies listed.
Tiffany Hutchison, retention specialist, and Rodney Sonnenberg, broadband sales specialist, were named Charter Communications' September employees of the month. Broadband sales specialist Jackie Bump won the 212 Degree award for exceptional customer service.
The Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin gave J.F. Ahern, 855 Morris St., a 2009 Build Wisconsin Award for its plumbing work on the Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research in Madison.
