Aurora suspends seasonal flu clinics due to vaccine shortage

The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association is suspending its seasonal flu clinics throughout eastern Wisconsin after Monday because of delays in shipments from vaccine manufacturers of the seasonal flu vaccine.

Scheduled clinics — including one in New Franken today and one in Green Bay on Monday — will continue as planned, and the clinics will resume once additional doses of the season flu vaccine arrive.

Shipments of the seasonal flu vaccine were disrupted as vaccine suppliers switched production to the H1N1 or swine flu vaccine, creating the shortages of seasonal flu vaccine.

“The seasonal flu usually does not peak until January or February, so people still have plenty of time to get a seasonal flu shot,” said Lisa Taylor, coordinator of the clinics and a registered nurse.
