Miniatures: Reception to re-open Gallery 42

Gallery 42, operated by artist Tim Nyberg, is ready to officially re-open with a reception from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.

The opening reception offers light refreshments and live jazz by keyboardist Lee Tomboulian, a frequent collaborator with Nyberg’s “Art and Music Jams,” where the artist paints to music performed in his gallery. Nyberg gives a gallery talk at 7 p.m.

The current exhibit is titled “What’s with the Faces?” The title was inspired by an incident at the gallery’s previous location in Juddville, when a driver executed a three-point U-turn in the middle of State 42 so she and her mother could get into its parking lot.

“After the two silently perused the entire gallery, the younger of them stood in front of the checkout counter, hands planted firmly on hips, and demanded, ‘What’s with the faces?’” Nyberg wrote. “The question struck me as so odd that I repeated it to my wife, Julie, who suggested that it be the title of our opening exhibit.”

Located at State 42 and Juddville Road until September, Gallery 42’s new space is in the Fairfield Building, Third Avenue and Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay. It is handicapped accessible and will be open throughout the year. Fall and winter hours are from noon-5 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and noon-3 Sundays.
