Fox Cities traffic today

Motorists are advised of the following road projects.

APPLETON

ALVIN STREET, from Evergreen Drive to the south end, closed for sewer and water main construction. Completion date: Today.

EIGHTH STREET, from Pierce Avenue to Badger Avenue, closed to through traffic due to water main reconstruction. Completion date: Nov. 19.

OLDE ONEIDA STREET, sewer and water reconstruction taking place from the Navigation Canal to the Fox River. Contractor may close the street to one lane of traffic with flag control from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. One lane of traffic in each direction should be available after 3 p.m. daily. Completion date: Nov. 25.

PIERCE AVENUE, from Spencer Street to Eighth Street, closed to through traffic for sanitary sewer and water main reconstruction. Completion date: Nov. 19.

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY

U.S. 41, from State 15 to County J, 12.3 miles, numerous improvements to the road surface, shoulders, ditch slopes, medians and overpasses. Completion date: Nov. 19.

WEYERS ROAD, Apple Creek crossing (Town of Vandenbroek), replacement of existing structure and improvements to the approaches. Weyers Road closed to traffic for the duration of the project. Completion date: Nov. 17.

WINNEBAGO COUNTY

U.S. 41, construction of bridge over highway to connect Fountain Road and Snell Road. Completion date: July 2010. Snell Road closed from west property line of Oshkosh Correctional Facility for a quarter mile to the west/southwest. Green Valley Road closed from Glenway Drive to the south. Fountain Avenue closed from about 800 feet west of Green Valley Road to Green Valley Road.

U.S. 41, southbound from U.S. 45 interchange to the State 21 interchange, widening the Lake Butte des Morts causeway, including the southbound U.S. 41 off ramp to State 21.The project also constructs a new overpass for Lake Butte des Morts Drive over 41 as well as the reconstruction of Lake Butte des Morts Drive and Marine Drive. Marine Drive is closed to through traffic. Southbound 41 is reduced to two 11-foot lanes between 45 and 21. Northbound 41 inside and outside shoulders are closed at Westwind Road. The Wiouwash Trail is closed between Marine Drive and Westwind Road until the summer of 2010. U.S. 41 southbound will be reduced to one 11-foot lane between 45 and 21 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Monday through Friday. Lake Butte des Morts Drive closed to through traffic between Westwind Road and County T; access will be maintained to residents and businesses from County T. Completion date: November 2010.

U.S. 41-U.S. 45, at Algoma Boulevard, Fernau Avenue, Snell Road and Stillman Drive, Oshkosh to Town of Oshkosh, construction of roundabout, reconstruction of local streets and construction of detention pond. Completion date: August 2010.

U.S. 41, demolition and reconstruction of the Witzel Avenue overpass and related work. Koeller Street is now open. The construction of N. Koeller Street and Rath Lane will have minimal impacts on traffic. Southbound U.S. 41 traffic will be affected by the shoulder closure between State 21 and Witzel through Nov. 15. Northbound traffic on Koeller and eastbound traffic on Witzel may be affected by lane closures, as will northbound traffic on Washburn Street.

WETLAND MITIGATION SITE, west side of Green Valley Road, just north of County Y, Town of Oshkosh, clearing and landscaping site. Traffic impact is minimal. Signing in place for trucks entering and leaving the site on County Y. Completion date: Today.
