Warriors mix swords, spears, acrobatics

Chinese acrobatic acts are familiar to audiences at Wausau's Grand Theater, but when the Shaolin Warriors come to town, they'll add swords, spears and flying kicks to the athletic and aesthetic mix.

The Shaolin monks will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the theater, 415 N. Fourth St., Wausau.

The Shaolin monks present the movement and imagery of kung fu in a fully choreographed show. It's all performed by disciples of Shaolin schools who were trained from childhood, using skills that originated nearly 1,500 years ago.

The monks also will portray a typical day at a Shaolin temple, including meditation, chanting and exercises such as synchronized fighting rituals.

Tickets range from $32 to $49. For more information, call 842-0988 or log on to www.onartsblock.org.
