Anthony L. Johnson, 32, Sturgeon Bay, had been drinking at the Stein, 59 E. Oak St., since about 5 p.m. Oct. 24, according to the criminal complaint.

Johnson became upset with 52-year-old Randy Wilson, who told Johnson to leave at about 1 a.m. Johnson left briefly and returned with an 8-inch chef’s knife, the complaint said.

He attacked Wilson from behind, drawing the blade across the front of Wilson’s neck. When police arrived, they found Johnson seated at a table and Wilson with a red mark on his neck, but no significant injury.

Johnson faces three misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon, battery and disorderly conduct. An attempted murder conviction could result in a maximum of 60 years in prison.

He is being held at the Door County Jail and is scheduled to be in court for an initial appearance on Monday.
